
Local government is the most important level of government. Its policies and programs impact residents, workers, and visitors on a daily basis. The job of being a local official is becoming more difficult. A variety of complex issues and concerns require officials to poses special skills and understanding to solve the problems facing their community. The increasing importance of computers further complicates an official’s job. Local government must deal with the rapid growth of technology and the increasing complexity of running a locality without ignoring the pressing issues facing the communities they represent.
